With both teams looking to win to move up the table, this match between Köln and Wolfsburg ended in a draw thanks to a superb performance from Max Finkgräfe for Köln and an equally good effort from Kevin Paredes.
The game started with both teams starting somewhat brightly but Wolfsburg mounted up a good number of chances but to no avail.
Around halfway through the first-half, play was paused as an assistant referee was hit by a Max Finkgräfe clearance and a replacement needed to be found and the man needed to be sought by the medics on-field.
Shortly after this, 1. FC Köln managed to pick up their tempo and in the 38th minute (with a set-piece play) through a Florian Kainz assist and the ball deflecting off a Wolfsburg defender, Köln's attacker Faride Alidou scored a header.
However, this lead did not last very long as USA's Kevin Paredes netted a neat bottom corner finish thanks to a Joakim Maehle cross to set the score level once again.
Shortly before half-time a slice of controversy arised as the ball struck Maxence Lacroix's arm but it was deemed that no penalty was to be given.
To begin the second half, Köln made a few chances and had some spells of possession as Dejan Ljubicic mishit a shot.
Following this, a towering header from Jonas Wind went wide.
Next, Max Finkgräfe provided a wonderful last-ditch tackle to prevent a certain VfL Wolfsburg goal.
In the 82nd minute, Jan Thielmann hit the post with a shot to the left of Koen Casteels' goal.
In the dying embers of the game, Marvin Schwäbe made a crucial save to keep it at 1-1 and to bring back a point to Müngersdorf.
