VfL Wolfsburg face Stuttgart with the hope of making a large stride towards European football. For Stuttgart, they can extend their lead in the race for Champions League.

Match Overview

VfL Wolfsburg

Last weekend, VfL Wolfsburg had to settle for yet another draw in the league. A strong Eintracht Frankfurt side put a dagger in "Die Wölfe's" hearts with a late Omar Marmoush goal.

However, a Kevin Behrens goal during the game opened his account in the Bundesliga for Wolfsburg to the delight of their fans.

The last game between the two sides (Stuttgart and Wolfsburg) ended in a 3-1 loss for the Wolves away in the MHP arena.

Before the turn of the year, Wolfsburg had only drawn one game in the Bundesliga. However, they have drawn six since the start of 2024 which is more than any other club.

Lastly, Niko Kovac was very complimentary of Stuttgart ahead of the game when he said: "They create chances, counter well, pass the ball well. They're this season's surprise package - in a positive way."

VfB Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart drew 1-1 last time out at home against a poor 1. FC Köln side.

For Stuttgart, a positive is the return of Deniz Undav as the German striker will most likely start for Schwabenmetropole on Saturday evening.

Undav has fourteen goals this Bundesliga season, but remarkably is only Stuttgart's second highest league scorer thanks to Serhou Guirassy form this campaign.

Also, Stuttgart are yet to lose since their poor streak of two losses in a row in the Bundesliga to start 2024.

Since then, they have enjoyed victories against fellow Champions League spot challengers RB Leipzig, Europa League hopefuls Freiburg, bottom side Darmstadt and Jan Siewert's Mainz (during his last game as manager).
