Background

Youssoufa Moukoko started his early career in the youth ranks of St. Pauli from 2014 to 2016.

In 2016, Moukoko moved to Borussia Dortmund to join their academy system.

At the age of fourteen, Moukoko moved to the under-19 team and in doing so was the youngest player to play in the UEFA Youth League.

In early 2020, Youssoufa Moukoko was able to train with the senior team but due to restrictions, he was not able to play for the senior team until he turned sixteen in late 2020.

On 21 November, a day after turning sixteen, he made his debut for Borussia Dortmund as he came on for Erling Haaland against Hertha BSC with five minutes of normal time left.

In December 2020, he became the youngest scorer in Bundesliga history at the age of 16 years and 28 days (breaking Florian Wirtz's record).

In the following season, he was a victim of Marco Rose's squad rotation as he fell behind Donyell Malen, Steffen Tigges and Haaland in the hierachy.

During the 2021-22 season, he also played two games for Borussia Dortmund II in order to gain game time.

In January 2023, he signed a contract extension with BVB until June 2026.

In the 2022-23 season, Moukoko managed to achieve his record-high tally for goals in the Bundesliga with seven.
