Manuel Neuer started his career at Schalke 04 and played through the academy. In 2005, he signed his first professional contract.
He made twenty-six appearances for Schalke II from 2004 to 2006 as a youth goalkeeper.
In 2006, following stints in the previous seasons being an unused substitute on the bench, Neuer made his Bundesliga debut on matchday two of the 2006-07 season.
The following season (2007-08), Manuel Neuer was one of only three Bundesliga players to play every minute that season and through this cemented his spot as Schalke's first-choice.
