A clause in Mark Uth's contract sees him released a year early from his Köln contract upon relegation thus he has been linked with a move to Hamburg if this occurs.
Mark Uth previously worked well under Steffen Baumgart in his first full season back at Köln during the 21-22 campaign where they finished 7th.
He accumulated thirteen goal contributions (five goals and eight assists) in a much-feared striking partnership with Anthony Modeste during this campaign.
However, since then, things have not turned out as expected for the thirty-two-year-old as he has struggled heavily with injuries and has missed most of the last two campaigns under head coach Steffen Baumgart.
Since new coach Timo Schultz's tenure, his match fitness has not improved a lot and this may be a contributing factor to him being willing to move to Hamburg.
Lastly, Steffen Baumgart recently spoke out about the matter of Uth being relinked with his former coach at HSV when he said: "There are definitely a lot of players that I find very interesting in Cologne and that I worked with. Mark is such a player – but I haven’t dealt with Mark now."
