Hamburg's Robert Glatzel suffered an hip injury in a friendly match against Aarhus and will therefore be out for several months.
Robert Glatzel was subbed off at the 46th minute mark on Thursday against Aarhus as they drew 1-1 to the Danish Superliga side.
After the game on Thursday, HSV coach Steffen Baumgart had said: "Robert felt something (the injury) in the moment, this is obviously annoying, but we don't want to speculate."
Now, it has become clear through further checks through the physio on Friday that Robert Glatzel has torn a tendon in the hip area and will undergo surgery.
It is expected that Davie Selke will now take his place permanently and will start as a sole striker for the foreseeable future.
