Acoording to reports, Schalke 04 have turned to the 3. Liga to find a solution for the striker position. Thirteenth-placed Viktoria Köln's Luca Marseiler is the desired option.

Luca Marseiler has scored nine goals in nineteen games for Viktoria Köln and also managed three assists alongside this.

The 26-year-old is currently playing in his third season for the cathedral town team and is an undisputed regular at Viktoria Köln.

Currently, only three players have scored more than him in the league. He has a market value of €325,000 so would be a cheap option for the Royal Blues.

Schalke's Simon Terodde (the record all-time scorer in the 2. Bundesliga with 175 goals for seven different clubs) has only managed three goals so far this 2. Bundesliga campaign.

Marseiler is only contracted to Viktoria Köln until June this year and due to the Bosman ruling, Schalke are free to discuss an end-of-contract agreement with the player this window.
