Mainz 05 have announced this Monday afternoon that they will go into the rest of the season without manager Jan Siewert.
Jan Siewert managed only one win (his first match vs. RB Leipzig) during his tenure at the 05ers.
A successor is to be announced on Tuesday.
The 41-year-old took over the role from Bo Svensson at the start of last November initially as an interim coach.
In December 2023, Mainz announced that they would give Jan Siewert a permanent contract until 2026 following his spell as an interim.
On the matter, Siewert said: "I’m thankful for my almost four years at Mainz 05. It’s a special club for me. I’ve made friends with a lot of colleagues here. Together with my coaching staff, I gave everything to make sure that the club stay in the division, but we were sadly missing the bit of luck we needed. I wish the team and the club all the best, and particularly that they secure their Bundesliga status.”
