How did Bo Henriksen's managerial career start?

Henriksen began his coaching profession at Danish side Brønshøj BK and with the club he managed to get them into the second best tier of Danish football (Danish first division) which was a historical run in their history.

Henriksen's next challenge

Following this, as he left the club in 2014, he joined AC Horsens and managed them all the way until August 2020, when he left by mutual consent.

During his period at the club, Henriksen managed promotion back up to the Danish Superliga and also reached the semi-final of the cup in the 2019-20 season.

Move to one of Denmark's greatest

His next role was one with three-time Danish Superliga champions FC Midtjylland. At the club, he only lasted one season but still finished second in the regular season being only six points off Copenhagen.

In the famed Championship round, FC Midtjylland finished runners-up behind Copenhagen by three points and therefore qualified for the Champions League second qualifying round.

In Europe during the same 2021-22 season, Henriksen lead the club to the Europa League group stages after failing to get through the Champions League's qualifying rounds.

After finishing third in their group, Midtjylland were relegated to the UEFA Conference League knockout stages. Unfortunately for Henriksen, they went out in their first tie against PAOK.

Bo Henriksen's Latest Role

Henriksen's latest role before Mainz 05's announcement was one at FC Zürich in the Swiss Super League.

In October 2022, FC Zürich appointed Bo Henriksen as they were bottom of the league after ten games. During this timeframe, they had only amassed four points.

In his debut season, he managed to take them all the way up to eighth following a streak of eight unbeaten in the league from November to March.

This season (23-24), Henriksen had taken FC Zürich up to a much-improved third place in the Swiss Super League up until him leaving the club.
