After a more than disappointing 2-1 loss away at the RheinEnergie stadium against Köln, Bochum have decided to sack coach Thomas Letsch as they are in danger of relegation.

The club now stand in 15th in the Bundesliga, but are only three and four points off Mainz and Köln with some tough fixtures still to come in the remaining six games (notably against Bayer Leverkusen).

His assistant coach Jan Fießer will also vacate his position with Letsch leaving Bochum.

The new decision over who will become the coach for Bochum during the remaining six games in the relegation fight will come in the following days.
