Following the dismissal of Jan Siewert, Mainz have announced today that Bo Henriksen will become their new manager this Bundesliga season.
Bo Henriksen has moved on from FC Zürich and has instead become Mainz 05's coach in their bid for survival.
With Mainz second-bottom in the Bundesliga, it seemed as if they needed a revamp.
On Monday, it was announced that the club parted ways with Jan Siewert and in his place they have appointed the fourty-nine-year-old.
Last week, Bo Henriksen announced that he would not be extending his contract with FC Zürich, which was expiring at the end of the season.
FC Zürich were third in the Swiss Super League and therefore it seemed a perfect match for Mainz in their bid to play Bundesliga football in the 24-25 season.
About the signing, sporting director Christian Heidel said: "We have looked intensively at our current situation and analyzed which type of coach with which footballing approach suits us in this difficult sporting situation. This led us to Bo Henriksen, a coach who has repeated this in his career and managed to form teams under very different conditions and to play football that was equally pragmatic, but also courageous and ultimately successful."
