The Kölner Stadtanzeiger has reported that Köln have extended youngster Max Finkgräfe's contract until 2026 thanks to a clause in his contract.

The nineteen-year-old German left-back has made seventeen appearances in the Bundesliga this season and scored his first ever goal for Köln in February against Hoffenheim in the league.

He has been on the list of the Germany under-21 team and has cemented his postition as starting left-back under head coach Timo Schultz as he has been preferred over the likes of Leart Paqarada and Dominique Heintz.

Comparisons have been drawn between Finkgräfe and Köln legend Jonas Hector, however the youngster has previously stated "he is not the new Jonas Hector".
