With Hertha BSC dropping out of the race for the young centre-back, Hamburg SV look likely to acquire David Zima on a loan basis from Serie A side Torino.

The player is currently valued at around €4 million (transfermarkt.de) and has made five substitute appearances in the Serie A this season for Torino.

He also scored in the Italy cup for Torino against Frosinone in a 2-1 loss that went to extra time.

This signing would mark Hamburg's (HSV's) second transfer of the winter window with Masaya Okugawa already having arrived on loan from Augsburg earlier in the same window.

The club are also looking to strike a deal for 1. FC Köln's full-back Noah Katterbach perhaps for a summer deal.

The player is deemed to be a great professional with a fast turn of place and a player and he also stands at a staggering 1.92m.

1. FC Köln's Noah Katterbach Likely To Join Hamburg

With Noah Katterbach's contract expiring this summer and the player having been demoted to the 1. FC Köln under-21s, Hamburg (HSV) look like a very likely destination for the player.

Hamburger SV: David Zima Saga Continues

With HSV's 2:0 victory against Schalke 04 and Torino not willing to negotiate too much further, it remains a doubt whether HSV will get Zima this window.
