With Davie Selke stating he would only like to stay at 1. FC Köln if they stay up this season, sporting director Christian Keller has the task of negotiating with him.
Bild reports that Köln are looking to speak with Davie Selke over the next few weeks in order to try and keep the player even in the case of relegation. Reports suggest that the club are wary of trying to negotiate a contract with the player, due to their league position.
It is also believed that Christian Keller had planned to spend around €5 million on a new striker in the winter window before the transfer ban (Bild).
Currently, the options Köln have should the striker leave in the summer are Sargis Adamyan, Florian Dietz and Steffen Tigges. Tim Lemperle will also rejoin the club in the summer from his loan spell at Greuther Fürth.
Also, the only other striker who has scored in the Bundesliga this season has been Luca Waldschmidt. Waldschmidt, however, is only on loan from Wolfsburg and would very likely not stay at the club if they go down.
Further updates will follow in the coming weeks, but so far no contact has been made Davie Selke.
