1.FC Köln have been fined €595,000 (£512,600) for setting off pyrotechnics in their game versus Borussia Mönchengladbach before the game causing a minor delay in kick-off.

This fine is the record highest fine ever handed out by the DFB in their history.

Numerous flares were set off in the run up to the game in the South Stand of the
Rhein-Energie Stadion.

1.FC Köln Sporting Director Christian Keller responded: "For the active fan scene, the use of pyrotechnics is part of football and fan culture. But, no red lines must be crossed."
