Union Berlin host Werder Bremen at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei on Saturday in the Bundesliga. The hosts will hope to extend the gap between them and relegation.

Match Overview

Union Berlin

Last weekend, Union Berlin lost 2-0 for the second game in a row when Chris Führich put the dagger in Die Eisernen's hearts with his goal.

Alongside this, Union Berlin have a pretty neat record in 2024 with three wins and three draws since the turn of the year.

In contrast to this, Union have only managed six goals this calendar year and only Darmstadt have scored less (four goals) in 2024.

Union Berlin are now seven points off the bottom three and look to be relatively safe from Bundesliga relegation.

Lastly, ahead of the Werder Bremen tie, coach Nenad Bjelica said: "Werder Bremen have done great away from home. They won against Bayern and have improved in attack, but we believe in our chances and that we will have the three points in the end."

Werder Bremen

Bremen lost narrowly 2-1 last weekend to the ten men of Borussia Dortmund which looked as if it has ended their immense run of results in 2024. Jadon Sancho netted his first goal of his renewed stint at Dortmund to score their second.

Werder Bremen have been a standout side in 2024, as they started the year with four wins in six Bundesliga games.

However, they are tenth in the Bundesliga with thirty points and are still three points off seventh and the Conference League position.

Marvin Ducksch has excelled under Ole Werner and has gotten nine goals and four assists in the league this time out.

Finally, before the Union Berlin game, Werder Bremen coach Ole Werner said: "They (Union Berlin) have different types of players up front than in recent years or in the first half of the season. A lot has also changed in terms of individual quality."
