Bayern Munich demolished a struggling Mainz side 8-1 on Saturday in the Bundesliga thanks to a Harry Kane hat-trick. Thomas Tuchel gave some thoughts after the tie.

At half time, Bayern Munich were 3-1 up thanks to a very late Harry Kane goal. Following this, five more goals fell for the Bavarians against Mainz as they recorded a historic victory.

Thomas Tuchel elected to play Joshua Kimmich at right-back yet again as the experienced German is versatile in his positioning.

After the game, Thomas Tuchel said: "Mainz was a very strong opponent through long periods of the game, especially in the first half."

He added: "Joshua Kimmich at the moment has played two good games in a row and has played two times at right-back. Yes he's good, that's why he plays there. However, Leon (Goretzka) was probably the player of the game."

Lastly, he spoke about Leon Goretzka's form when he said: "He is doing very, very well and is feeling always more and more welcome at the club. He made two assists with his key passes. He feels very good at the moment on the pitch."
