Bayern Munich's veteran attacker Thomas Müller is set to retire from the German national football team after the soul-crushing 2-1 defeat to Spain in extra-time.

Germany were just minutes away from a penalty shootout and a chance to beat Spain in dramatic fashion before Mikel Merino headed in a cross into the back of the net in the 119th minute of extra time.

Thomas Müller's national team companion Toni Kroos had already confirmed that he would retire after Euro 2024, and now it seems as if his ex-Bayern Munich teammate will join him in this decision to retire from Germany.

Unlike Kroos, Thomas Müller (who is also thirty-four) will continue to play club football for the Bavarians in a bid to get revenge on Bayer Leverkusen next season and clinch the Meisterschale.
