After four-and-a-half years at the club, Sheraldo Becker has left Union Berlin for Real Sociedad for a small fee this window with his contract expiring in the summer.
Scoring eleven goals in the 2022-23 season, Becker propelled "Die Eisern" to their first ever Champions League qualification last season.
The season before, he helped Union Berlin to reach the Europa League with ten goal contributions in his breakout season.
However, under new manager Nenad Bjelica, Becker has fallen out of favour with players like Kevin Behrens receiving more game time.
A highlight in his time at the club was in August 2022 when he became the first and only (to date) Union Berlin player to receive a Bundesliga player of the month award.
In a statement on the club's website, the twenty-eight-year-old said: “ I am forever grateful for Union Berlin. This is where I became who I am today. Together, we've achieved a lot in four and a half years that nobody would have thought we could. I will always be proud of that. Now it's time for me to move on, but the club and the people will always have a place in my heart."
