Mathias Olesen has only managed six Bundesliga games this season and has failed to make an impact at 1. FC Köln. Therefore, he will join Swiss first-division side Yverdon Sport on loan until the summer.
With a market value of €1.2 million, Mathias Olesen has left 1. FC Köln on a six-month loan.
The twenty-two-year-old is yet to score for the first team but has managed one assist in the DFB Pokal this season.
A youth prospect since joining from Eintracht Trier in 2019, Olesen was a part of the same youth system that saw the rise of talents like Jan Thielmann and Florian Wirtz during this same era.
It is clear, however, that Mathias Olesen does not suit Timo Schultz's playing style and has unfortunately negatively been impacted by the departure of cult hero Steffen Baumgart.
Currently 9th in the Swiss Super League, there is hope that Mathias Olesen help Yverdon Sport avoid relegation this season.
