Germany hosts the Netherlands in Frankfurt with both looking to build on dominant victories last weekend, the Germans winning comfortably versus France in Toni Kroos' return game.

Match Overview

Germany

Last time out, Germany won two-nil against World Cup runners-up France and kept their first clean sheet in international football since the win against Peru last March.

Florian Wirtz scored in lightning quick fashion within the first ten seconds, in an improvised scene direct from the training ground, against France on Saturday.

Toni Kroos earnt his much-anticipated return to the Germany starting eleven following coming back from retirement, in doing so he got an assist and accrued a ninety-five percent pass accuracy throughout the ninety minutes.

Waldemar Anton, Deniz Undav and Maximilian Mittelstädt all earnt their first ever Germany appearances, with the latter starting on the left hand side and playing the full ninety minutes.

After the win against France, Julian Nageslmann said: "I think that today, we found a good middle ground to exactly find the balance needed. Our gegenpressing was very good, especially in the first twenty minutes."

Netherlands

Netherlands were 4-0 winners in their last outing against Germany's Euro 2024 opponents Scotland with Bundesliga players Wout Weghorst and Donyell Malen netting for the Oranje.

They are on a four match winning streak dating back to their 2-1 loss to France in the Euros qualifying in October 2023.

The Netherlands have the upper hand in terms of recent form against Die Mannschaft, with the Dutch having only lost one of their last five ties against their German counterparts.

Since their last encounter with Germany in March 2022, the gap in FIFA rankings has now jumped up from two to ten as the Netherlands sit in sixth in the rankings whilst Germany sit in sixteenth (a position that they have not been in since December 2018).

Team News
