With the January fixtures having concluded and the Bundesliga announcing their nominees for the Bundesliga player of the month, Futmo presents their player of the month.

Futmo's January Bundesliga Player of the Month is...

Niclas Füllkrug

How did he win the award?

With four goals and a huge turnaround in form for Borussia Dortmund from his shaky start to the Bundesliga campaign in the opening months, Füllkrug has proved that he deserves to remain Germany's starting striker under Julian Nagelsmann.

Having won every game in January, Füllkrug became a part of a Dortmund side that was transformed in 2024 under the guise of new signings Jadon Sancho and Ian Maatsen.

The highlight of his month was most definitely the 3-1 win over VfL Bochum in which he attained a record by becoming one of only eight players to score hat-tricks for three different clubs (Werder Bremen, Borussia Dortmund and Hannover 96).

With seventeen goal contributions for Borussia Dortmund this season, he has the highest tally of goal contributions for the club.

Lastly, he has also already managed to overtake the highest scoring Dortmund player from last season in terms of goals (Sébastien Haller (9), Julian Brandt (9), Donyell Malen (9) (all tied)).

With striking mediocrity like Anthony Modeste and Steffen Tigges having had roles at the club in recent years, Füllkrug seems like he has turned around Borussia Dortmund's striking fortunes for the foreseeable future.
