Bayern Munich provided a hammering of second-bottom side Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga by scoring eight goals at home. Scorer Leon Goretzka gave his thoughts after the game.

Bayern Munich won 8-1 versus Mainz 05 in an emphatic win thanks to a Harry Kane hat-trick, two Leon Goretzka goals, a Thomas Müller strike and a goal each from Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry on top.

This result moves Bayern Munich within seven points off Bayer Leverkusen in first place. Following the 8-0 win, Bayern Munich have now scored twelve more goals than any other club in the league.

Leon Goretzka scored two goals and made two assists in the game. After this brilliant performance Leon Goretzka said: "I think it was very convincing win over 90 minutes and also we finally scored a lot of goals."

He added: "I don't think I've ever managed two goals and two assists in a game. I had visitors today watching the game."

Lastly, he said: "I think that it doesn't matter what you call this win. If Leverkusen start to shake or wobble, it is our job to be right behind them."
