Bayern Munich head into the tie against Lazio with only one win out of their last five outings, whereas Lazio have received back-to-back losses in the Serie A.

Match Overview

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich head into this tie unbeaten in their last thirteen European home games and have only lost once at the Allianz Arena in the Champions League since their 2019-20 Champions League trophy win.

Despite being historically dominant in Europe, Bayern struggled on Friday against Freiburg and were stunned by a late Lucas Höler goal to end the game at 2-2.

Bayer Leverkusen's win on Sunday against fellow Rheinland side 1. FC Köln leaves the Bavarians ten points off the top of the Bundesliga.

Harry Kane is the second-top scorer this season in the Champions League with four goals. In the league, Bayern's talisman currently has 27 goals.

Bayern Munich have only failed to progress past the last-16 once in the past ten years and this was against Liverpool in the 2018-19 season.

Ahead of the tie, Bayern Munich player Alphonso Davies said:"It's about energy, mentality, hunger, how much we want it. We have the quality to turn the situation around."

Lazio

Lazio currently sit in 9th place in the Serie A which is seven places below the position they finished in last campaign (second).

As well as this, Lazio lost their last game 1-0 to AC Milan due to a Noah Okafor goal. The side from Rome astoundingly finished the game with eight players on the field following three red cards.

Additionally, Lazio have only made the quarter-finals of the tournament once and this was in the 1999-2000 season.

Maurizio Sarri is under pressure to keep his job at the moment, just like Thomas Tuchel, following an enraged performance from both the players and the coach against AC Milan.

Team News

Bayern Munich

Leroy Sané is a doubt ahead of the match but was seen in team training on Sunday so should be back for the tie.

Lazio

Patric will miss the tie for Lazio with an ankle problem and Nicolò Rovella will also be unavailable with a pelvis issue.
