High-flying Bayern Munich face Dinamo Zagreb in Vincent Kompany's first game in the Champions League as a coach. However, will Bayern's league form translate to Europe?

Match Overview

Bayern Munich's first real test under Kompany?

Bayern Munich head into this tie unbeaten in their first three games in the Bundesliga under new head coach Vincent Kompany, which has not been achieved by a new manager since 2018.

Also, Bayern Munich have not lost a Champions League group game in 41 games dating back to a 3-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in late 2017 under the old Champions League format.

Since joining the Bavarian outfit in 2023 from Tottenham Hotspur, no player in any of Europe's top leagues has netted more goals and assists combined than Bayern Munich's Harry Kane (51 goal contributions).

Despite the criticism of many pundits and ex-pros within football of Harry Kane's trophy record at his previous clubs and for his country England, many believe this may be the season he wins silverware under Kompany.

Both Owen Hargreaves and Lothar Matthäus have been on record in recent weeks saying that the Englishman will definitely win major silverware for the first time in club football (The Sun and BBC News).
