Ahead of the new 2024-25 2. Bundesliga season, 1. FC Köln's left-back Max Finkgräfe has been nominated for the 2024 Golden Boy Award.

The twenty-year-old German sits alongside Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton in the nominations.

Finkgräfe's first Bundesliga start came against Freiburg last year in a 2-0 loss. His first goal came just months later in February as he netted a sublime free-kick against Heidenheim to put the Billy Goats one-nil up.

Since the Hinrunde, he has started in all but one game for Timo Schultz's 1. FC Köln and has become the club's second most valuable player in doing so.

His Effzeh teammate Jan Thielmann was also previously nominated for the 2022 edition of the prestigious award for young footballers.
