1. FC Köln have been relegated from the Bundesliga following a five year stint in Germany's top flight. The arrival of new manager Timo Schultz did not help survival.

After an embarassing and emotionally draining 4-1 defeat for all Köln fans against Heidenheim, one of Germany's giants in Köln have been relegated.

Two early goals from Eren Dinkçi saw Köln fall behind extremely early on. Another goal from Kevin Sessa in the 36th minute sent the players packing and saw the club all but down.

In the second half, despite a goal from Steffen Tigges, not much improved and Köln were unable to win.
