1.FC Köln have revealed today that they have parted ways with manager Steffen Baumgart.
After joining the club in June 2021, Baumgart reached 7th place and earning a UEFA Conference League spot in his first season at the club, the manager was an influential figure at the club.
There is no doubt that his influence reached beyond the players as his trademark flat cap became a staple amongst fans.
In the following season, he managed a respectable 11th place finish whilst juggling European and Bundesliga football.
However, this season Köln found themselves struggling without key players like Ellyes Skhiri and Jonas Hector and the club currently are in 17th place.
Following defeat to Union Berlin on Wednesday evening, it is believed that the club spoke to him the following morning and both parties came to the decision.
