Frauen-Bundesliga: Bayern Munich women's team managed to edge a close home game on Saturday versus UEFA Women's Champions League contenders TSG Hoffenheim in their first Frauen-Bundesliga game in 2024.

Background

Ahead of this game, Bayern Munich knew victory would provide them with first place and a two-point lead ahead of VfL Wolfsburg's game against SGS Essen.

TSG Hoffenheim, however, were looking to draw level on points with Eintracht Frankfurt in third place.

Match Overview

Sydney Lohmann was brought in for this game by Alexander Straus to start ahead of Linda Dallmann.

Not much occured during the first part of the first-half with Hoffenheim perhaps starting a bit better.

However, in the twenty-second minute, Klara Bühl netted a free-kick attempt in the bottom corner to earn Bayern Munich the 1-0 lead against the run of play.

In the 34th minute, German national team player Lea Schüller hit the crossbar to begin the Bayern dominance in the tie.

To end the half, the last huge bit of action happened in the form of a controversial elbow-hit in the Bayern Munich box in which Nadine Westerhoff decided against a penalty.

In the second half, continued pressure occured with Sydney Lohmann hitting the crossbar in the 47th minute.

Shortly after this, Lea Schüller hit an offside goal which was disallowed meaning Bayern could not grab their second.

Klara Bühl hit the post in the 61st and minute and then Bayern Munich controlled the game to grab a victory (their first in five competitive matches).
