Xabi Alonso is reportedly going to announce his intention to stay at Bayer 04 for the upcoming season in the press in the next week (Bild).

The decision is expected to be announced in a press conference today by the Spaniard.

Bayer 04 are first in the Bundesliga and are still unbeaten in all competitions. They have a ten-point lead at the top of the league over Bayern Munich.

This decision may encourage other players to stay at the club and embark on a European campaign next season in the Champions League.
