Borussia Mönchengladbach produced a remarkable upset on Sunday in the Bundesliga as they beat a VfB Stuttgart side seemingly struggling with the absence of key players.

Before the game on Sunday, VfB Stuttgart were in third place and had a seven point gap between them and Borussia Dortmund in 5th.

In contrast, Borussia Mönchengladbach sat in the bottom half of the table on just seventeen points marginally above VfL Bochum and Werder Bremen.

Robin Hack produced a stellar performance with two goals to win the game for "Die Fohlen" and complete control in the midfield battle with some strong midfielders like Enzo Millot to contend with in the opponent's roster.

The improved role of Julian Weigl played a key part in Gladbach winning the midfield battle as he managed to keep the team solid in transition whilst negating the fast counter-attack.

Following this result, Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Gerardo Seoane said: "We scored two goals early on, which gives us a bit more breathing room. A two-goal lead is not the same as a one-goal lead."
